How to Track Heat Stability During a Shisha Charcoal Test

Keep test geometry and observation positions fixed. Record heat response and every intervention on the same timeline, then separate a high peak from a stable useful window.

Shisha charcoal heat stability test

A peak reading cannot establish heat stability.

Define the required heat condition, choose a measurement or observation method and keep its position and setup unchanged between suppliers.

Keep timestamps, raw readings, missing observations and operator actions visible. This practical buyer framework supplies no universal temperature threshold or invented Unimax results.

Blank stability log

Record heat response and interventions together.

Complete one sheet per sample and run. Enter supplier, grade, pack/batch and run ID; method version; starting count and mass; conditioning and lighting endpoint; bowl, load and foil/HMD layout; sensor or observation position; airflow; required condition; evaluation window; observation cadence; and rotation policy. Photograph the fixed setup.

Run summary: observed peak and its time; highest/lowest recorded values within the stated window if measured; qualifying periods and excursions; missing observations; intervention count; replacement identity and mass; deviations; reviewer and decision.

Comparison rule: use identical geometry, method, units and evaluation windows. Keep instrument readings separate from operational ratings. Any added fuel or changed sensor position must stay visible in the record.

01 · Define stability

A high peak is not a stable useful window.

A shisha charcoal heat stability test should answer whether the identified sample maintains the buyer’s required heat condition in a defined application. A single high reading only describes that reading; it does not establish how consistently the requirement is met over the rest of the run.

Define the useful condition and evaluation window before testing. For instrument-based comparison, state the quantity, units, measurement location and buyer-defined acceptable range. For operational observation, use a written rating definition and label it as an operator assessment. This guide supplies no universal temperature band or pass limit.

Keep startup, the qualifying application window and tail-end decline separately identifiable. A consistently low response may be stable but unsuitable for the requirement. Likewise, a large startup peak does not compensate for repeated interruptions later in the agreed window.

02 · Fixed geometry

Keep the physical arrangement unchanged between suppliers.

Record bowl and application load, foil configuration or identified HMD, cube positions and spacing, lid or vent state where relevant, and measurement location. Use a setup photograph or sketch with position labels so the next run can reproduce the arrangement.

Hold nominal cube format and count consistent for a matched-format trial, and record actual starting mass. Record conditioning, ignition endpoint and transfer sequence as well. If the test design uses equal mass with a different piece count, disclose that design and document placement rather than presenting it as an identical setup.

Do not move a sensor closer to the fuel for one supplier or use a different foil/HMD arrangement without marking a separate configuration. A change in geometry changes the observation conditions, leaving a supplier ranking confounded. Keep results tied to the tested setup.

03 · Measurement position

Choose one measurement method and keep its meaning clear.

Record the instrument and sensor identity, measurement type, units, installation or viewing position and relevant instrument settings. Follow the equipment’s instructions and retain any applicable verification or calibration record. A stated number needs the method and location that produced it.

Keep the same documented sensor placement across runs and identify if contact, orientation or installation changes. Different measurement locations or methods should not be pooled into one series. If using a non-contact instrument, retain the viewing geometry and relevant settings; do not silently treat it as an equivalent measure at another point.

Without an instrument, select the same observation position and written assessment criteria for every run. Code samples where practical to reduce brand expectations. Report the result as an observation, not a temperature trace, and do not infer health, indoor-air or safety performance from the heat record.

04 · Clock and cadence

Record the same elapsed times for every run.

Define application time zero, such as the agreed placement event after the standardized lighting procedure. Record preheat and the first confirmed useful condition separately. Use a fixed observation schedule chosen before testing and retain actual timestamps if observations are late.

Log every scheduled reading, including low or inconsistent observations. Mark missing data as missing rather than zero, and retain interruptions. Intermittent readings can miss changes between observations; do not claim uninterrupted stability from a few widely spaced points.

For continuously logged data, retain the original series and the logging settings. State any averaging or smoothing used in a summary and keep the underlying readings available. Do not compare a smoothed record against another supplier’s raw peaks as if they represented the same processing.

05 · Rotation and airflow

Treat operator actions as events in the series.

Choose a fixed rotation schedule or a written operational trigger policy and apply it consistently. Record the actual time of rotation, repositioning, ash handling, vent changes and other adjustments. Note the reading or assessment immediately before and after each action where the method permits.

Keep airflow settings, surrounding drafts and ambient conditions documented. A change is a deviation or separate test condition, not an unrecorded explanation added later. Avoid changing several variables at once if the objective is a controlled supplier comparison.

If replacement fuel is added, record its identity, mass and placement time. End the original-portion comparison at the agreed endpoint or explicitly label the later segment as a replenished-system trial. A stable session maintained by extra fuel is not evidence that the starting portion alone maintained that response.

06 · Interpretation

Review variation, useful periods and intervention demand together.

Within the predefined evaluation window, examine the recorded spread, trend, excursions outside the buyer’s requirement and the time relationship to interventions. Identify the highest observed reading as an observed peak, not necessarily the true peak if sampling is intermittent.

For readings in consistent units at the same location, a descriptive spread can be shown as the highest recorded value minus the lowest recorded value within the same stated window. This is a worksheet summary, not a universal stability score or proof of measurement uncertainty. Do not compare spreads from different windows or methods without resolving those differences.

Keep time meeting the requirement, time below or above it, unresolved gaps and intervention count visible. When a transition occurs between inspections, report its interval bounds. Distinguish a brief disturbance around a recorded action from a sustained decline, while avoiding unsupported causal claims about production.

07 · Repeat and decide

Keep the evidence scoped to the sample and application.

Repeat independently identified runs, reset the setup consistently and vary supplier order where practical. Retain the planned run count, pack coverage and observed variation. This practical comparison framework prescribes no universal sample size, official testing standard or pass rate.

Approve against the buyer’s written requirements using the full record: setup, method, sample identity, useful window, excursions, adjustments and deviations. An unresolved instrument issue or changed geometry calls for clarification or an aligned retest, not a confidently ranked supplier.

Keep the original logs, photographs, method version and reviewer’s outcome with the sample approval file. No Unimax heat results are invented here. Sample behavior in one configuration does not guarantee every future delivery; subsequent production and shipment evidence remain separate approval requirements.

Keep stability inside the complete sample review.

Follow the repeatable burn-test protocol for preparation and application controls. Separate useful heat from total burn time when interpreting the evaluation window. Evaluate the complete sample before ordering, and confirm the offered grade on the shisha charcoal product page.

Before ranking heat-stability results

Does the highest temperature mean the best stability?

No. Review the predefined useful condition across the evaluation window, including excursions and operator actions.

Can I move the sensor between suppliers?

Keep its position fixed for the comparison. A changed position defines a different measurement condition and must be disclosed or retested.

Can stability be assessed without a sensor?

A written operational observation can support a practical trial, but it must be labeled as an assessment and not presented as measured temperature.

Does added fuel invalidate the whole session record?

The session record can remain useful when additions are documented. Label the replenished segment separately so it is not attributed to the original portion alone.
