How to Separate Product, Packaging, and Freight Costs in a Shisha Charcoal Quote
Separate recurring goods, packaging development and logistics, then reconcile each offer to the same requirement. Keep bundled charges, optional services and exclusions visible before comparing supplier totals.

01 · Define one comparison brief
Normalize the requirement before comparing the price.
A shisha charcoal quote cost breakdown is useful only when the offers cover comparable products, quantities, packs and delivery scope. Send the same RFQ revision to each supplier and keep proposed alternatives separate from the requested configuration.
Record the cube format, requested grade or specification, sample status, quantity and unit, target market, timing, inner and master packs, private-label concept and destination. Resolve material differences in these requirements before ranking the quoted totals.
Choose a reporting currency, comparison quantity and delivery boundary. Retain each original quoted currency and unit, and document any conversion source, date and basis. An indicative amount remains indicative after conversion; a more detailed spreadsheet does not make it a confirmed offer.
02 · Base product versus packaging development
Identify recurring goods and one-off work separately.
Identify the base product price against the defined product, quantity basis and included standard packing. A price per metric tonne and a price per carton cannot be compared until the net product mass and carton contents are explicit. Keep the original unit alongside the normalized unit.
For private label, identify artwork preparation, structural development, proofs, printing setup and other requested development work. Record what the buyer supplies, what the supplier can support, what is included and what is separately priced. A packaging mockup is not a production-approved revision.
Keep one-off development charges separate from recurring goods and packaging. If a comparison allocates a setup charge across units or future orders, disclose the quantity and commitment behind that allocation. Do not make the first order appear cheaper by spreading its cost across unconfirmed repeat orders.
A supplier does not need to disclose internal margins to define commercial scope. If product and packaging are sold as a bundle, retain the confirmed bundle and mark any unallocated portion. Never invent a base product price by subtracting an assumed packaging cost.
03 · Unit packs and master cartons
Compare the same contents, construction and revision.
Record inner-pack contents and net mass, outer-carton configuration, closures, printing, structural revision and any requested pallet arrangement. Distinguish the number of sale units from the number of master cartons; both can appear in a quotation with different price bases.
Check whether packaging is already included in the product line, charged per pack or carton, or linked to a separate setup charge. Reconcile each charge once. A line called packing does not establish its contents without the corresponding specification and inclusions.
Keep alternative packaging proposals identifiable. Different dimensions, gross mass, protection or carton configurations can affect logistics assumptions and loading quantity. A lower packaging line alone does not demonstrate a lower cost for the required delivered scope.
Ask for current supported materials, order conditions and quantity requirements for the proposed pack. Do not treat a planning field, a previous quotation or an example from another supplier as a confirmed Unimax minimum quantity or lead time.
04 · Origin, freight, insurance and destination
Define each service and who has priced it.
Record the complete delivery reference: the selected Incoterms rule, named port, place or point, and version. ICC guidance explains that these rules allocate defined obligations, costs and risk. They do not replace the entire sales contract or set payment terms and product specifications.
List origin services, freight, insurance and relevant surcharges with their scope, provider, currency, validity and exclusions. Mark what the supplier offer already includes before adding an outside logistics quotation. Freight requires a route and service basis; an old shipment figure is not a current offer.
Compare destination broker, port or terminal services and inland delivery through the same agreed boundary. Keep duty and tax fields pending until the appointed broker and relevant destination sources confirm classification, origin, assessment basis, rates and applicable conditions.
ITA’s general export-pricing guidance includes product, freight, insurance, tariffs, taxes and fees in the landed-cost picture. Its U.S. export examples are not Indonesian charcoal rates. Use current offers and destination-specific confirmation rather than a generic percentage added to every supplier price.

05 · Inspection, documents and exclusions
Put optional and unresolved scope where it can be seen.
For optional inspection or testing, define the requested scope, sample or batch reference, reviewer, evidence and issue stage. Record whether it is included, additional, buyer-arranged or still unconfirmed. A buyer requirement does not itself confirm that a supplier supports the service.
Identify required product, batch and shipment documents by purpose, responsible party and format, with logistics parties reviewing their needs. Separate document preparation from laboratory work, surveys or legalization where these are distinct services. Do not assume every item described as documentation has the same scope.
Make exclusions visible, including unconfirmed destination services, extra proof revisions or receiving activities outside the quote. Use included, separately quoted, excluded, pending or not applicable with a stated basis. An unknown charge is not zero.
Keep quotation validity, proposed payment terms and timing dependencies alongside the comparison. Offers with different payment or schedule conditions should not silently be treated as equivalent just because their product descriptions match.
06 · Normalize, reconcile and request a revised offer
Preserve the quoted total and show every adjustment.
Start with the original quoted total and its confirmed scope. Add only evidenced costs needed beyond that scope to reach the chosen comparison boundary. If an offer includes more than the requested boundary, ask for a supported adjustment or revised offer instead of subtracting a guessed amount.
Trace every normalization to an original quotation, written clarification, current external offer or documented conversion. Retain supplier bundles as bundles when a split is unavailable. Label the comparison incomplete or scenario-based while a material required cost remains pending.
Show recurring costs and one-off charges on the same stated quantity basis for every supplier. Review product, packaging and service deviations beside the totals. The lowest individual line is not automatically the lowest cost for the required scope, and the comparison does not guarantee a margin.
Request revised quotations against the same RFQ and packaging revision before committing. Confirm current supported scope, inclusions, options, exclusions and commercial conditions with each supplier; keep the calculation version and review date for the next decision.

Comparison total = original quoted total + evidenced costs needed beyond its included scope, adjusted only on a supported basis. Record pending items separately; the table does not authorize a guessed breakdown of a supplier bundle.
Quotation cost-breakdown questions
Does a comparison require the supplier’s internal cost or margin?
No. Confirm the commercial scope, price basis and inclusions. Keep a confirmed bundle when a component split is unavailable, and record the comparison limit.
Should packaging always be added to the product price?
Only add the portion not already included in the accepted product or pack quotation. Reconcile setup, unit packs and master cartons separately without counting a charge twice.
Can offers with different Incoterms be compared?
Align them to a defined boundary using current supported inputs, or request revised offers on the same basis. Do not treat different delivery scopes as equivalent or guess deductions.
How should one-off packaging development be shown?
Show it separately from recurring costs. If allocating it across units or orders, disclose the quantity and commitment assumed; keep unconfirmed future orders visible as an assumption.
Send the market, product, volume and packaging concept for review.
Send Unimax the target market, defined product, estimated volume, packaging or private-label concept, destination, requested delivery basis, timing and services. Ask for current supported scope and clearly identified inclusions, options and exclusions before comparing offers.
