Importer packaging and logistics guide
Questions to Answer Before Requesting a BBQ Charcoal Price
A useful quotation starts with a defined product, pack and delivery scope. Tell the supplier what you need, what is still undecided and when the goods must arrive so the response can be compared fairly.

BBQ charcoal price request requirements
Price without a scope is a weak comparison.
For an importer, “What is your best price?” can produce several numbers for different products, packs and delivery arrangements. The lowest number may simply leave out something another offer includes. Start with a shared charcoal quotation checklist so suppliers respond to the same buying project.
You do not need every detail settled before contacting Unimax. Mark unknowns as “to be confirmed” and ask for advice where needed. A clear provisional brief is more useful than a precise-looking inquiry built on guesses.
This guide publishes no price, fixed MOQ or guaranteed availability. Product, packaging, order feasibility and commercial terms need confirmation for the actual request.
Wholesale BBQ charcoal inquiry
Nine fields that make a quotation useful.
| Field | What to provide | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Country and buyer type | Company, destination market and importer, distributor, brand or operator role. | Identifies the commercial context and intended sales channel. |
| Application and problem | Cooking equipment, use routine and the problem with the current product or supplier. | Defines what the comparison needs to solve. |
| Shape and dimensions | Product format, dimension units, measurement points and any agreed tolerances. | Prevents different formats from being treated as interchangeable. |
| Specification and evidence | Required properties, limits, methods, reporting basis and sample or report scope. | Makes quality requirements reviewable rather than relying on grade names. |
| Order and monthly volume | Initial quantity with unit, trial or reorder stage and a separate monthly forecast. | Separates a proposed order from an uncommitted forecast. |
| Sample plan | Sample requirement, delivery location, tests and decision criteria. | Clarifies the evaluation step before commercial approval. |
| Packaging and private label | Net pack mass, inner pack, carton, printing, artwork and SKU scope. | Makes the quoted packing configuration explicit. |
| Port and trade term | Destination port or location, proposed rule, named point and edition. | Defines the requested commercial scope for review. |
| Schedule and documents | Arrival need, shipment window, approval dates and exact document requests. | Exposes dependencies and items needing confirmation. |
Country, buyer type and application
Explain the business problem behind the inquiry.
State your destination country and whether you are an importer, distributor, wholesaler, brand owner or food-service operator. Describe the sales channel and actual use: the cooking equipment, fuel handling routine and performance questions that matter to the customer.
Explain the current supplier problem in concrete terms. Inconsistent lot results, broken briquettes, unsuitable packs, changing production sources and late deliveries require different review questions. Avoid making “premium quality” the entire brief.
For commercial cooking, the food-service evaluation guide helps connect the inquiry to the operator’s routine. You can describe the required improvement without disclosing confidential supplier information.
Shape, dimensions and specification
Ask suppliers to quote the same product.
Name the format and dimensions with units and measurement points. Unimax currently focuses its BBQ range on coconut charcoal briquettes in hexagonal formats; pillow and sawdust briquettes are not its current production focus. Confirm the proposed product with the BBQ charcoal page.
Use the briquette size guide to clarify geometry and the specification-sheet guide to define properties, limits, methods and reporting basis. A grade name alone does not establish an equivalent specification across suppliers.
Separate required acceptance criteria from preferences and questions for a sample trial. Identify the evidence needed for the quoted product rather than asking for an unrelated laboratory report as a general reassurance.
Initial volume, forecast and sample need
Keep commitments separate from estimates.
Give the initial quantity and its unit, the buying stage and a separate expected monthly requirement. If you are exploring a trial, say so. If the forecast depends on a product launch or customer approval, describe that dependency instead of presenting it as a firm order.
Do not assume a container label determines the exact net loading quantity. Pack configuration and the reviewed loading plan need confirmation. Ask the supplier which quantity and packing assumptions its response uses.
Describe whether samples are needed, where they should be delivered, what will be evaluated and who makes the approval decision. Sample availability, quantity, dispatch arrangement and commercial conditions are confirmed for the request; this article sets no universal sample or order minimum.
Packaging and private label
Include the pack that you intend to buy.
Specify net pack mass, inner bag or liner, retail units per carton, outer carton and any pallet or loading requirement. Define whether printing is generic or private label, how many SKUs are involved and whether artwork and required label wording are ready.
For an own-brand project, use the OEM packaging brief and private-label page. Confirm what the quotation includes for materials, printing, approvals and any setup work.
A request for branded retail packs should not be compared directly with an offer for another pack format. If you want alternatives, ask suppliers to label them as separate scenarios with the changed assumptions visible.
Port, trade term and quotation scope
Name the location, not just the abbreviation.
Provide the destination port or location and the proposed trade term, named point and edition. If you need help choosing the arrangement, ask for logistics review rather than assuming a familiar three-letter abbreviation covers the whole journey.
ICC describes Incoterms® rules as addressing buyer and seller obligations, costs and risks. Use the official rules with the relevant commercial and logistics advisers for the actual transaction. This brief requests a defined quotation scope; it does not select a rule for every buyer.
Ask which charges and services are included, excluded or awaiting confirmation. Use the landed-cost checklist to compare the complete cost scope. Keep currency, quantity unit, validity, proposed payment terms and freight assumptions visible in the response.
Schedule and required documents
Send the arrival need and approval dependencies.
State the required arrival date or window as well as the intended order timing. Include sample approval, artwork readiness, label review, inspection and document needs that could affect the schedule. Ask for feasibility rather than treating the requested date as a confirmed delivery promise.
List the specific documents, issuing or review requirements and timing needed by your importer, broker, carrier or customer. “All certificates” is not a precise request. Availability and suitability must be confirmed for the actual product and destination.
Keep questions, mandatory requirements and optional preferences distinct. A supplier should be able to identify what remains open before issuing a firm commercial response.
Charcoal supplier RFQ
Six steps before sending the inquiry.
Use one dated brief for all suppliers and record any revised assumptions.

Define inner and outer packs, net mass, printing, private-label and artwork status.
- 05
Set the commercial and timing scope
Provide destination, proposed trade term, required arrival date and document requests.
- 06
Ask for a scoped response
Request assumptions, inclusions, exclusions, validity and items requiring confirmation. Compare only after reconciling differences.
A compact RFQ you can complete.
Leave uncertain fields marked “to be confirmed”; ask for a separately labelled option if you want the supplier to propose an alternative.

Common price-request questions
Can I inquire before I know every specification?
Yes. Describe the application, buying stage and known requirements, then identify the fields needing advice or sample evaluation.
Should I provide monthly volume if it is only a forecast?
Yes, but label it as a forecast and separate it from the proposed initial order. Use clear quantities and units.
Does requesting a container quote confirm the loading quantity?
No. Confirm the product, packs and reviewed loading assumptions in the supplier’s response.
Is the lowest quoted unit price necessarily the best offer?
Only a reconciled product, quality, packing and commercial scope gives a useful comparison. Identify exclusions and differences first.
